Audi Powered Exotics

Rick Case Audi, the leading Audi dealership in Duluth area, is proud to boast about five awesome cars which were big enough to make the news, and are all powered by Audi engines. Here is a quick sneak peak.

1989 Zender Fact 4
1989 Zender Fact 4 – In the 70s and 80s era, Zender was more popularly known among car enthusiasts as a body kit and alloy wheel manufacturer. The Fact 4, a concept car, was built by Zender to showcase their engineering and designing capabilities. Built with Carbon Fiber, the Fact 4 had an ultra light bodyweight. Although a concept car, Fact 4 was functional and was powered by an Audi 3.6 liter twin cam 4 valve per cylinder V8 engine, the same engine present in the V8 quattro sedan. The supercar churned out 240hp. However, the manufacturer thought the powertrain was not enough and coupled it with a pair of KKK turbos. The remodeled engine pumped out 448hp and a top speed of over 190mph.

Spyker C8 Aileron
Spyker C8 Aileron – Powered by an Audi 4.2 liter V8 engine, the spyker C8 Aileron pumped out 290hp and a top speed of 186 mph. The C8 spyder T gets a more powerful Audi 4.2 litre V8 twin turbo with 525hp, giving it a top speed of 199 mph whereas the C8 Laviolette has the 290hp Audi engine with a glass canopy. The spyder models, on the other hand, come with either a soft or a hard top unlike the Laviolette.
A special version of the C8 is a C8 Double 12R which has been designed especially for the 24 hours of Le Mans featuring an Audi V8 engine with 480hp and the C8 Double 12s is the street version of this car having the same glass canopy like the Laviolette. Plus, it also has an optional 620hp instead of the 400hp.

Gumpert Apollo
Gumpert Apollo Gumpert Apollo, manufactured by the German automaker Gumpert Sportwagenmanufaktur GmbH, is a lightweight mid-engine race car with rear wheel drive. It is one of the other vehicles that is powered by Audi’s V8 engine. The vehicle was constructed on a tubular steel frame with fiberglass or optional carbon fiber body panels.
KTM X Bow
KTM X Bow Produced by the Austrian motorcycle manufacturer KTM, KTM X Bow is the first ever car in their product range. This ultra-light sports car uses a turbocharged four-cylinder 2.0 liter Audi engine (the 2.0T). The Audi engine in the 2011 X-Bow R model is tweaked to produce 296bhp and 300 lb/ft torque at 3300 rpm.
Melkus RS2000
Melkus RS2000 – This single seat racing car by Heinz Melkus in Dresden used engines from Wartburgs and much of the other parts came from Wartburgs and Trabants. Most of the cars used the 992 cc version, but some of the later cars had the 1200 cc version. It had gullwing doors. 101 cars were made.
In the lightweight sports cars section, the Melkus RS2000 GT and GTS are the latest versions. While the RS 2000 GT is backed by a 2.0 liter turbo four cylinder pumping 300 horsepower, the GTS has a 2.0 liter turbo four that churns out 350 horsepower that matches perfectly with the carbon fiber body kit and interior trim.

Private Used Car for Sale vs. Audi Certified Pre-Owned

Wondering why you should buy an Audi certified pre-owned vehicle when you can grab a used car from a private owner at as much as $2000 less? Buying from a private used car seller may cost a bit less, but the risks of repair costs after purchase and the uncertainty of the most valuable components lifespan can cost exponentially more than $2000. The possibilities are literally frightening, and frighteningly likely to happen when you’re not buying certified-used from a reputable dealership:

ENGINE REPAIRS: There are hundreds of internal lubricated parts. The average repair for an internal engine failure repair costs between $2000 - $5000 if the engine needs replaced, and there may be symptoms present that are not detectable by the average used car buyer.

TRANSMISSION REPAIRS: There are internal lubricated parts, including seals, gaskets and clutches that work interdependently. The average cost of repair for internal failure cost between $2000 - $4000 or more for the average vehicle. Again, there may be symptoms present that are not detectable by the average used car buyer.

DRIVE AXLES and DIFFERENTIAL REPAIRS: Repairs to any of the vehicles drive axles or differentials can be very expensive, especially if they were not maintained. The average repair costs can range from $1000 - $2000 for an internal failure, more if the complete assembly needs to be replaced.

FOUR WHEEL DRIVE: ALL WHEEL DRIVE REPAIRS: These are also very complex systems that are very expensive to repair or replace, costing $1000 - $2000.

STEERING SYSTEM REPAIRS: There are 100+ individual parts (moving and stationary) - The average cost of repair is $500 - $1500.

SUSPENSION SYSTEM REPAIRS: There are many individual parts depending on advanced systems; the average cost of repair is $500 to $1000 or more.

BRAKE REPAIRS: There are many individual wearable parts not including the Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) - The average cost of repair is $350 to over $1000.

COOLING SYSTEM REPAIRS: There are many components in the cooling system that are affected by the normal wear and tear of driving; the average cost of repair is over $400. Timing belt driven water pumps can cost over $900.

SEALS and GASKETS REPAIRS: Cylinder head gaskets and intake manifold gaskets are common failures to many vehicles; the average cost of repair can range from $500 to over $1000.

AIR CONDITIONER and HEATER REPAIRS: Many vehicles do not blow cold air. The seller states it just needs a tune-up charge of freon. This means the original charge must have leaked out somewhere over time. A professional inspector has many years of training and experience to detect where freon normally leaks from and may be able to tell with a visual inspection of the air conditioning components if evidence is present. - The average cost of repair can be over $1000!!

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM REPAIRS: Many electrical component problems can go undetected to the un-trained eye. The average cost of repair can be over $500. Source: National Auto Inspection Services

The Euro-spec A5 Coupe Reveals a New Turbo Engine

Europe gets a treat with the sleek, efficient new A5, its good looks and fuel-efficient performance...

The turbocharged four-cylinder, 1.8 liter engine with 170 hp will peak torque at 236 lb-ft between 1,400 rpm and 3,700 rpm. The purpose of the new turbocharged engine is efficiency, and the new design develops a boost pressure of up to 19 psi. The turbine is made from a new alloy that can handle 1,796 degrees Fahrenheit without deforming. Boost pressure is electronically controlled precisely to deliver better performance with less fuel.

According to Audi, the new design has reduced consumption by 21%. The engine will average about 41 mpg, or 5.7 liters per 100 kilometers, with fewer emissions than its predecessor.

The engine puts Audi ahead of the Euro 6 regulations for emissions, which do not go into effect until 2015. The new powerplant eventually will come stateside, and the smart money says it will trickle down to the A4 and the A3 as well.

If you're interested in the latest Audi technology on US soil, there's no better place to go in Atlanta than Gwinnett Audi, where every new Audi purchase comes with a free 10-year, 100,000-mile warranty. The Audi Q7 TDI: A fuel-efficient, luxury bachelor pad on wheels

It boasts low, odor-free emissions, plenty of torque and a 30% increase in fuel economy compared to similar engines, resulting in a purportedly-epic mileage from a single tank – 600 miles. Is that a reliable number? Yes; a week-long test drive from Brooklyn to Columbus, with a full passenger load (and one dog), won the Audi Q7 TDI a place “In the Maxim Garage.”

The Q7’s power is in no way compromised by its fuel efficiency; its 3-liter, direct-injection V6 provides 220 horsepower and 406 lb-ft of torque at just 1,750 rpm. The 6-speed Tiptronic gearbox is programmed to shift before the redline so as to garner a few more miles from every gallon. So let’s talk luxury…

The leather interior feels even more luxurious when you’re listening to the 14-speaker Bang & Olufsen sound system and peering out the three-piece sunroof, or dozing as a passenger with the ambient lighting and adaptive suspension. While Maxim may have deemed it a green, high-tech bachelor pad on wheels, all the evidence shows that the Audi Q7 TDI will have far more fans from the grown-up crowd.

Only at Gwinnett Audi in Atlanta will your purchase be packed with value; every new vehicle comes with a 10-year, 100,000-mile warranty, Rick Case Rewards membership that will help you save on future purchases or 10% on service, parts and accessories. Green Car Journal confers the 2010 Green Car of the Year to Audi A3 TDI

Gwinnett Audi, a leading Audi Dealer in Duluth, near Atlanta, Georgia, is proud to share the latest Audi news that the Audi A3 TDI has received Green Car Journal’s prestigious Green Car of the Year Award for 2010. This comes as no surprise since the Audi A3 TDI scores high on efficiency in spite of giving sports-car like performance. Eco-friendliness and performance luxury are generally seen as conflicting concepts; however, engineers at Audi believe that this divergent ethos can be blended to create the new-generation cars.

The Green Car of the Year award was established in 2005 and Ron Cogan, editor and publisher of Green Car Journal and editor of GreenCar.com, presented the 2010 award to Audi of America President Johan de Nysschen during the Los Angeles Auto Show.

The 2010 Audi A3 TDI has been greeted with enthusiastic response by Audi customers. The A3 TDI is not just one of the most fuel efficient cars, but also one of the most environment-friendly cars with low greenhouse gas emissions. This car uses TDI clean diesel technology which ensures automotive performance in an environmentally responsible way.

The powerful TDI 2.0 engine in the A3 gives an EPA-estimated 42 mpg highway fuel economy which is the best in any luxury car sold in America. All new A3 models now come standard with S line exterior equipment. The wheels have been upgraded and standard Xenon headlights with LED daytime running lights are available on Premium Plus models.

Contact Gwinnett Audi, a leading Audi dealer serving the Atlanta, Duluth, Norcross and Alpharetta, Georgia areas to learn more about the 2010 Audi A3 TDI and other new Audi vehicles and incentives.
